Lamas and alpacas
„New world“ camels belong to the species of camelids, which originally stem from the mountain regions in South America. Lamas and alpacas can be distinguished easily from one another by their size. Whereas lamas are clearly bigger than alpacas, the latter look softer and fluffier. They were domesticated more than 5000 years ago and specially bred for their wool. Although lamas and alpacas have a quiet character, they are shyer than other mammals in the presence of humans. It takes a lot of patience and empathy.
Photo shoots with lamas and alpacas are currently available near Frauenfeld and St. Gallen, Switzerland and near Munich, Germany.
